Holding My Line

You know how when explorers do their thing like go searching a dark cave or go down into a dark pit, they have a line attached to them? And there's always someone on the other end holding it, just in case they get lost or get into trouble, they can always find them and bring them back. When exploring your heart and life in general, sometimes people can get lost. You can get lost in your black holes or your vices I guess, but I think ironically both the easiest and worst place to get lost is inside yourself, and everyone has a different vehicle for getting there. Maybe some people are more susceptible to this than others. I like to think it's not only me.
Though shamefully I sometimes wish life was just me and God, this is one of the reasons He gave us other people. One day He'll provide someone who's standing with Him to hold my line who will know when to let me have more and will know when to pull me back, whether that be a gentle tug or following the line to come and get me. Until then, and ultimately always I suppose, He's the one holding it.
